Company outing with volunteering for nature conservation
A day to strengthen the team, unleash our creativity, learn and participate in volunteering for nature conservation.
A day of volunteering, nature and team fun
On October 8th, 2024, our team experienced an epic day on a company outing volunteering for nature conservation. Between laughter, fresh air and teamwork, we helped to protect the environment while discovering the local fauna and flora. Fun and commitment, all in one!
Magical morning: Decoration of the park with mystical animal legends
We started the day full of energy, having breakfast together with Solsonès products. With our batteries recharged, we launched into a creative activity where we decorated the park with legends of mystical animals. We became real artists, creating a magical entrance to the park, where each team member let their imagination fly.
A creative challenge
We realized how complicated it is to find fall decorations; everything is full of Halloween stuff! We feel inspired by Catalan traditions.
Excursion: The new routes of the Font de Vermell, an unexpected surprise
After finishing with the decorations, we were excited to explore the new Font de Vermell interactive trails, created with a grant from our city council.
We entered very excited, but the adventure gave us some surprises… We found posts without the descriptive signs that should guide us through the tour, and when we tried to scan the QR codes at the interactive points, it turned out that there was no mobile data connection!
Luckily, Laia and Manu, ever resourceful, managed to access the information somehow, and we were finally able to enjoy the interactive part of the route. We didn’t let anything discourage us.
The scenery was breathtaking, and we came with the desire to have a good time, and that’s exactly what we did! Eloi, our expert «mushroom hunter», became the star of the hike, telling us about the mushrooms he found along the way. His enthusiasm made the hike an even more enjoyable experience.
Conclusion: Our commitment to environmental education, without subsidies but with dedication.
We are deeply proud of our work. Although we do not receive grants, we make up for it with dedication and passion, always focused on educating our visitors. We use simple and accessible language, avoiding technicalities, to ensure that each person takes away valuable and exciting learning about nature.
Volunteering for Nature Conservation: An Experience at the Ribera Salada
After a delicious meal at Casanova in Cambrils, we headed to the Ribera Salada river. The best of this company outing with volunteering was yet to come: pure nature and a volunteer mission awaited us that would make us feel like real environmental heroes!
Reviewing the State of the Ribera Salada river
Our goal in this company outing with volunteering was clear: to join forces with the association Associació Hàbitats and its incredible river project: Projecte Rius. What did we do? Everything! From measuring the quality of the water to investigating the fauna and flora that give life to this natural corner of the world, we felt like real scientists. Who said science couldn’t be fun?
Encounter with the Most Fascinating Inhabitants of the Ribera Salada
The most exciting thing? The birds. It was a natural spectacle worthy of any documentary: a common kingfisher, a great spotted woodpeckerand the friendly grey wagtail made their appearance together with many other species. Each of these encounters reminded us of the importance of caring for this valuable habitat.
Aquatic Discoveries
Aquatic invertebrate inspection was another highlight of our company outing with volunteering. We again documented the presence of a dragonfly larva (Gomphidae), an aquatic insect that only inhabits very clean waters. This discovery was especially significant, as it confirms the excellent state of conservation of the river.
As it was our second participation, we were not so surprised by the immense amount of aquatic critters we found. Even so, we had a great time observing them with a magnifying glass, analyzing every detail in order to correctly identify the different species. It was a moment of learning and fun that connected us even more with the environment.
Fun and team learning
Although the water was cold and the current was strong after the recent rains, working as a team and learning more about the Catalan fauna was a rewarding experience for everyone. The activity not only allowed us to do our bit for the conservation of the environment, but also helped us to strengthen the bonds between colleagues.
Next Appointment in May
On the next company outing with volunteering in May, we will invite our Wild Souls community to join the adventure of volunteering in the Ribera Salada. It will be a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a day in the middle of nature and actively contribute to the conservation of the environment.
We will be sharing the details of the event and how to sign up through our social networks and in the exclusive Wild Souls newsletter, so stay tuned so you don’t miss out on this unique experience.
